As a noble lady of the prestigious Great Liang dynasty, Yiling’s life should have been smooth and prosperous, yet her fate took a nosedive when it came to marriage, all thanks to the treacherous Xie Hengzhi.

When she was engaged to her childhood sweetheart Xiao Shizi, his family was falsely accused of treason by Xie Hengzhi, leading to their execution and confiscation of property.

When she set her sights on the newly crowned top scholar, Xie Hengzhi presented witnesses accusing him of cheating on the imperial exams, reducing the once-promising scholar to a prisoner, living a fate worse than death. Finally, she placed her hopes on the dashing and celebrated commander favored by the emperor.
